There are so many ways to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity Cleveland. Below is a list of different ways you can get involved!
Community Service
We welcome those who are in need of community service hours! Community service hours can be worked by volunteering in the areas listed below. Due to large volumes of requests we receive from students needing to obtain scholarship hours, we ask that you schedule your hours no later than one month before your hours are due. Please know that you are not guaranteed a volunteer placement if your request has not been submitted at least one month prior to your deadline.
Please register to receive information about community service hours by using one of the below links in the area you are interested in.
Construction Site
The most well-known volunteer opportunity with Habitat for Humanity is working on the construction site. No construction experience or skills are required, but volunteers must be at least 16 years-old to work on-site. Construction volunteers help us build two to three days a week year-round and can be scheduled as either an individual or a team. They undertake dozens of home construction tasks such as framing, vinyl siding, interior trim, painting, landscaping and many other types of projects.
ReStore
Do you love organizing or do you have experience in retail? Our ReStore receives donations of new and gently-used items, which we sell and then use the proceeds to help build homes. Items received include furniture, appliances, building materials, housewares, clothing and many other types of items. Volunteers must be at least 14 years-old to to work in the ReStore, and we invite individuals and groups to volunteer. The ReStore is always in need of people to help assist customers on the sales floor to sort, clean and prepare donations to be sold.
Heavy Lifters
Large donations of furniture, appliances and cabinets often result in over $25,000 towards the Habitat ReStore’s mission, but it all ends up in the landfill if we can’t pick it up. Help us out, meet our rock-star Habitat team, and see another side of Habitat by signing up to be part of our “on call” Habitat Heavy Lifter volunteers. Every shift filled means less in the landfill and more for Habitat ‘s mission!
