Meet Sysha Blair

For the past seven years, Sysha and her daughter Harleigh have made the most of the duplex they’ve rented. It’s been a place to laugh, to grow and to dream—but with new ownership and rising rent on the horizon, Sysha knew it was time to find something more stable.

When she found out that she had been accepted into the Habitat program, she was overcome with emotion. “I never thought this would be in reach,” she said. But now, what once felt impossible is becoming a reality.

Sysha has worked at the Whirlpool call center since 2009 and genuinely loves the people she works with. Outside of work, she finds joy in reading, swimming and working out. But her biggest joy of all is her daughter, Harleigh.

At seven years old, Harleigh is bursting with personality. She loves chatting with her cousins, drawing colorful creations, playing Roblox and swimming at the YMCA. She’s about to start second grade and already dreams of getting good grades and making new friends. When asked what she’s most excited about, Harleigh can’t wait to paint her new room pink.

Together, Sysha and Harleigh love cooking meals and cozying up for movie nights. They dream of a backyard where Harleigh can splash in her very own pool, surrounded by the safety of a fenced-in yard. For Sysha, this home is more than a roof—it’s the first step toward building something lasting. She hopes to one day own multiple properties, and this house will be the beginning of that journey.

For Harleigh, home is simple: “It’s a safe place where I can grow up.”

And for both of them, it’s the place where dreams are just beginning to come true.
