Volunteer with Purpose
We seek to Bring People Together to Build and Repair Homes, Communities and Hope…
By volunteering with Habitat of Cleveland, you can be part of bringing affordable homeownership to Bradley County. See below all of the opportunities to volunteer with Habitat of Cleveland!
How Can I Volunteer?
Construction
Help build safe, stable homes for families in our community by volunteering on a Habitat construction site. No experience is needed—just a willingness to work hard, learn new skills, and make a lasting difference alongside our team and partner homeowners.
ReStore
Volunteer at our ReStore, where donated home goods are sold to fund the construction of safe, affordable homes for local families. Whether you’re helping organize donations, assisting customers, or preparing items for the sales floor, every shift helps build stronger communities.
Special Skills
Use your unique skills to support Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland behind the scenes. Volunteers can assist with homeowner support, event planning, office projects, and other special tasks that help strengthen our programs and expand our impact in the community.

FAQs
-
If you are seeking to complete court-ordered community service hours, Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland is unable to accept individuals who have been charged with serious crimes involving violence, theft, sexual misconduct, or other offenses that our organization determines may pose a risk to our staff, volunteers, or partner families. We appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved.
-
Depending on the reason you are volunteering (school, workplace, court requirements, etc.), you should follow that organization’s guidelines for reporting your hours. Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland also tracks volunteer hours internally, but for us to include your time in our reports, each volunteer must sign in and sign out for every shift. This ensures your hours are accurately recorded.
-
Once you decide how you would like to volunteer, you will need to sign up through one of our available shift calendars. Instructions for registering for a shift are listed above. If you are interested in volunteering in an area that is not currently listed on the shift calendar, please contact us volunteer@habitatofcleveland.org and our team will be happy to assist you.
-
If you have signed up for a shift at the ReStore, please visit the cashier who will direct you to a computer to check in for your shift. From there, you should be directed to your area for the day.
-
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for a work environment. We recommend closed-toed shoes for safety, especially when volunteering on a construction site or in the ReStore. Please avoid clothing that is overly revealing or may be unsafe for hands-on work.
-
We offer volunteer shifts from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM and 2:00 PM–6:00 PM. When you arrive, a staff member will help you sign in, provide a brief overview of the day’s needs, and place you in an area where volunteers are needed most.
If these exact shift times do not perfectly fit your schedule, that is okay. We simply ask that you sign up for the shift that falls within the timeframe of when you will be volunteering so your hours can be properly recorded.
For example, if you plan to volunteer from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, you should sign up for the 10:00 AM–2:00 PM shift and sign in and out for the time you are present.
Volunteer activities vary by location. In the ReStore, volunteers may help sort and organize donated items, test electronics, clean or prepare items for the sales floor, assist customers, or help move and display furniture. In the office, volunteers may assist with filing, assembling mailings, data entry, organizing supplies, or helping staff prepare materials for upcoming programs or events.
How to Use VolunteerHub/ Tracking Hours on Volunteer Kiosk
VolunteerHub is the system we use to schedule volunteers and track volunteer hours. This allows us to confirm when volunteers sign in and out and verify hours for school, work, or community service requirements.
Before arriving at the ReStore, you must register for the volunteer shift you plan to attend through VolunteerHub. Registration closes two days before the scheduled shift, so please be sure to sign up in advance.
When you arrive at the ReStore for your shift, a staff member will direct you to our volunteer kiosk. At the kiosk, type in your name and select “Start Shift” to sign in. When you finish volunteering, return to the kiosk, type in your name again, and select “End Shift” to sign out.
Signing in and out is very important. If you do not log your shift through the kiosk, we will not be able to verify your volunteer hours for school, work, or community service.
If you have any issues signing in or out, please let a ReStore employee know and they will assist you.
