Meet Beatrice Bobe-Garcia
Beatrice’s heart is as big as her dreams, and now, those dreams are finally within reach. She is the kind of person who’s always doing something good for others. Beatrice is deeply rooted in her faith, and whether she’s baking bread for local churches, driving neighbors to medical appointment or teaching Sunday school, she’s always giving back. She also takes care of her brother and a dear friend who both need dialysis, all while being a devoted mom to her two daughters and grandmother to eight grandchildren.
But life hasn’t been easy for Beatrice. She’s been living in an apartment with mold, roaches and a neglectful landlord—conditions no one should have to endure. It’s been a constant struggle, but Beatrice never let her circumstances break her spirit. When a neighbor mentioned Habitat’s homeownership program, she jumped into action, pulling her application together and submitting it the very next day. She was ready for a change—and she wasn’t going to let anything stop her.
Now that she’s in the program, Beatrice is dreaming again! For the first time, she can see herself in a home she can call her own, where she can finally personalize her space and hang up her favorite photos. But what excites her most is the thought of starting her own garden. She’s already planning to fill it with flowers and fresh vegetables—something she’s dreamed of for years. The joy she feels at the idea of creating a space that’s truly hers is indescribable. This is her moment and we’re all cheering her on as she takes this next step toward finding peace and happiness in her new home.
