Meet Brenda Ware

“After seventy years, I get my own home.”

Brenda's life is like a beautiful quilt woven with threads of family, faith, and a heartfelt dedication to her community. A single mother of four and a retired preschool teacher, she has always been a source of inspiration. Now, she's embarking on a new chapter, aiming to achieve affordable homeownership with the help of Habitat of Cleveland.

Her faith is her guiding light, an unwavering anchor in her life. A devoted member of the Fellowship of Praise, Brenda's involvement goes beyond attending services. She shares wisdom as a Sunday school teacher, spreading the warmth of God's love to those around her. Prayer is her sanctuary, a special time she spends with the Lord, seeking solace and strength.

Brenda's heart is as big as her ambitions. In her earlier years, before her husband's passing, she was a pillar of support in the foster care system. She offered love and stability to two siblings at a time, providing a nurturing home. Family is the cornerstone of Brenda's world. Her four children hold a special place in her heart, and their Sunday dinners are moments of shared connection.

Challenges haven't deterred Brenda's spirit. She's faced health battles, including three back surgeries, arthritis, diabetes, and degenerative disc disease. These trials make everyday tasks like showering and even parking difficult. Rising rents have added financial strain, prompting Brenda to seek refuge in the Habitat program, where she was the first to apply for homeownership.

When she received the news of her acceptance, Brenda's heart overflowed with gratitude. Her faith remained unwavering, and she praised God for this incredible opportunity. She envisions her new home as a canvas for countless cherished memories, especially during Sunday dinners with her loved ones.

Brenda's story speaks of resilience, unwavering faith, and a deep commitment to her family. Habitat of Cleveland's program is turning her dream into reality. As she eagerly awaits a stable and affordable home, Brenda's love for her community shines brightly. Each Sunday, before church, she drives by Habitat's Morelock Meadows, offering heartfelt prayers for the neighborhood she hopes to call home. Her journey is an inspiring testament to the power of faith and the strength of the human spirit.
