Bejerano-Diaz Family

Marta Diaz is originally from Cuba, where she grew up surrounded by family and love. "We are a happy and unity family, who sticks together in good and bad times" shared Marta.

Marta's son, and his children, sister, and her children live in Cleveland. When Marta came to visit her family, she fell in love with Cleveland's beauty and knew she wanted to make it her home.

Marta enjoys music, dancing, reading, spending time with family, and going on nature trips. Family means everything to Marta, and she is excited that her youngest daughter and grandchildren have recently moved to Cleveland. Marta likes to joke around with her grandchildren and tell them funny things. "They always ask me how old I am, and I switch my numbers around and tell them I'm 16 instead of 61. They enjoy that and laugh a lot" shared Marta.

Marta moved to Cleveland four years ago and has since been working at Aalberts Surface Treatment. She currently lives in a one-bedroom apartment with six other family members. Marta has a granddaughter, named Deborah, who will be living with her. Deborah is in the sixth grade and enjoys singing.

When asked what having a home means to her, Marta replied " Having my own home means stability, emotional, and spiritual as it provides peace that is hard to describe. In just one word, it means happiness". "I will care for my home like I would care for myself or my granddaughter that I love so much" shared Marta.
