Meet the Wells Family

“I’ve always said that I want to leave my kids something. When I pass, they will still have a place to call home.”

Being part of a loving community in Cleveland Tennessee, a determined single mother named April is carving a path towards her dream. Just three classes away from her Associate's degree in Criminal Justice at Cleveland State, April's tenacity is awe-inspiring. Her eyes are set on becoming a probation officer, and she's not letting anything stand in her way.

April's pride and joy are her two boys, Chance and Chase, aged thirteen and twelve. Despite facing numerous hurdles, she's unwavering in her pursuit of success. Her determination is a driving force as she balances studies and motherhood. But April's life isn't all textbooks and exams – she finds solace in baking, thrift shopping, and soaking up quality moments with her sons.

April's journey hasn't been a smooth ride. She juggled high school and raising her nine-month-old son, Chance, with grace. Her biggest support has been her mother, both a parent and a dear friend, guiding her through life's challenges. With strong family values shaping her commitment to her children's well-being, April's journey is a testament to resilience and love.

Currently, April, Chance, and Chase share a bustling household with her parents, sister, and niece. Space is a luxury, with Chance and Chase bunking in the same room, and April herself tucked away in an unfinished basement. The crowded environment, seven people living under one roof, ignites a fire within April to seek a better situation.

April's ultimate goal is clear: to offer her boys a stable and comfortable life. A home of their own would gift Chance and Chase the space they need to grow and flourish. Beyond that, owning a home would allow April to concentrate on her studies as she completes her degree, bringing her closer to her dream of working in criminal justice.

With the spirit of determination as her compass, April is eager to embrace a new chapter with Habitat. She's ready to pour her heart into the journey towards homeownership, knowing it's a stepping stone to her and her boys' brighter future. Grateful for the opportunity, April's energy and resolve are lighting the path towards a better life for her family.
