Wade Family

Family means everything to Beverly Wade. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was surrounded by love from her brothers and sisters. Beverly’s family has always been close and now many of her siblings are hours away. “You know, I miss them a ton. It has been hard trying to handle everything on my own,” Beverly shared. “I was in my fifties trying to raise a newborn baby.”

Beverly is currently raising her great-grandkids, Landon and Andi. She has looked for different housing options but can not afford them as a single parent. She is currently paying around 700 dollars for a tiny two-bedroom apartment. Due to the size of the apartment, Beverly and Andi have been sharing a bedroom for the past seven years. “Andi loves to say, she just lets me sleep there,” Beverly shared. “Her toys are everywhere, decorations— it’s just her room.”

Beverly's grandkids are her entire world, but it is hard at the end of the day to find time for herself. One thing she enjoys is Alabama football. "I'd love to host and watch games but I just don't have the space," shared Beverly. "Even the kids have noticed I do not cook as much. It just becomes a hassle."

The process of getting an affordable home has already given Beverly and her grandkids hope. "Andi and Landon will have other kids to play sports with and it just means the world," shared Beverly. Beverly is looking forward to her grandkids connecting with the surrounding families and Landon will have someone to play sports with while Andi acquaints herself with her own room for the first time.
